Despite the heartbreaking result at The International 2019, where he got eliminated in the group stages, Peter “ppd” Dager will continue to captain Ninjas in Pyjamas through the new season, but he put together a completely new team.

“Last year didn’t end as I hoped so we’ve decided to switch things up. I’m teaming up with my old-teammate Universe and a few up-and-coming talents to hopefully achieve greatness,” said ppd upon revealing the new roster of NiP. The team features three North American players and two Europeans who fought for the past couple of years on lower tier teams, hoping that one day a tier one captain will see their potential. The wait is over for Oliver “Skiter” Lepko and Malthe “Biver” Winther, who were initially scouted by Team Singularity in this post TI9 shuffle. Having an offer from the TI5 winner, the two will enter the new season alongside two of the finest NA players and will be joined by the NA mid laner, Nico “Gunnar” Lopez.

Ninjas in Pyjamas roster from position 1 to 5:

  • Oliver “Skiter” Lepko
  • Nico “Gunnar” Lopez
  • Saahil “Universe” Arora
  • Malthe “Biver” Winther
  • Peter “ppd” Dager

While Universe has been inactive since he departed from Forward Gaming back in March this year, Skiter and Biver tried to make a name for themselves in South America, playing in the mixed European-SA line-up of Infamous up until after the last Major of the 2018-2019 Dota Pro Circuit season, when the organization dropped the entire roster to sign Team Anvorgesa.

Gunnar needs no introduction anymore as he’s been in the spotlight pre TI9, after he got kicked from Team Team mere days ahead of MDL Disneyland® Paris Major North America, tournament which should have marked his debut at a Valve sponsored event. After the whole Disneyland drama, Gunnar got to attend TI9, but as part of the English broadcast.

With three NA players on their side, it’s uncertain if the NiP will compete via NA region or if they will continue to fight alongside the European teams. In the official announcement from September 20, 2019, the organization states that the team will bootcamp starting next week in Stockholm, Sweden.
